Guenter Bischof Receives Austrian High Decoration

The Austrian Ambassador to the United States Dr. Petra Schneebauer bestowed the Grand Silver Honorary Cross from the Austrian Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen on Günter Bischof for his contributions to trans-Atlantic Austrian-American relations during a ceremony on March 6, 2024 at the Austrian Residence in Washington, DC.
Dr. Bischof is the former director of Center Austria at The University of New Orleans (UNO), which he directed for 25 years; he also taught American History at UNO for almost 35 years before his retirement in August 2023.
