Born in Innsbruck, Austria, Graduate studies in Political Science/Women`s Studies and Romanistic at the University of Innsbruck, Austria; designated for the 2011-12 Marshall Plan Chair at the University of New Orleans; holds academic position at the University of Vienna, Institute for Family Studies; before long term research fellow at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Women`s Health, Vienna and at the Academy of Science, Institute for Demography, Vienna.
Visiting professor at several universities: City University, London (2002), Australian National University, Canberra (2005) and Universitat Pampeu Farbra, Barcelona (2010); member of international scientific associations; numerous publications and lectures; several books: Familienpolitik – nationale und internationale Perspektiven (Family Policy – national and international Perspectives, Barbara Budrich, 2009), Väter im Abseits (Fathers aside, Verlag für Sozialwissenschaften, 2007) and Mutterschaft im Patriarchat (Motherhood in Patriarchy, Verlag Peter Lang, 2004).
Empirical and theoretical interdisciplinary research in the areas of political science, demography and family studies; research focus: gender and feminist political theory, motherhood and fatherhood, family and population policies and women and Islam.
