Dr. Susan McClamroch, PhD. in Urban Studies at UNO 2021, who will assume the duties of Registrar at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama this month, recently completed a study of two controversial exhibits at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Both public history events aimed to minimize the presence of Dr. Wernher von Braun in the town shaped by his Space Age successes. But Alabama’s “Rocket City” community resisted, refusing to conform to negative views of the former Nazi rocketeer. McClamroch’s talk explores the phenomenon of immovable memory in this cotton town turned “city of knowledge.”
