International Student Mobility
The corner stone of Center Austria's programming is the vibrant student exchange with its partner institution, the University of Innsbruck in Austria.
Over 1,000 Austrian students have come to UNO for a semester, a year, or via the month-long Austrian Student Program in February, many of them completing advanced degrees. About 200 American students have participated in the Academic Year Abroad program in Innsbruck.
Several dozen faculty members have profited from faculty exchanges, and scores of UNO faculty have taught in the Innsbruck Summer School (the record holder taught 18 times). There have been numerous mutual visits by university and city officials as part of the partnership agreements.
Few transatlantic university partnerships maintain a denser web of contacts than the Innsbruck – New Orleans one. The net benefit of such active student mobility and intense citizen diplomacy between Austria and the U.S. is incalculable.
